Fiji

To celebrate Fiji Language Week, we learnt all about Fiji, then created a short presentation on Google Slides.

The learners learnt how to share their work by publishing it to the webclicking on embed, making it a small presentationtiming the slide show and then publishing it. They then copied the embed code.

The learners then learnt how to embed the slide show on their blogs by going to add media, insert embed code and finally inserting it into the post.

I am proud of my learners.

India’s independence day celebration

Today, in class, Mrs Raj shared with us interesting and important facts about India.

We then went to the school car park to witness the flag raising ceremony. Most of the Indian students at school participated in singing India’s national anthem. They also presented information and facts about how India gained independence from the British rule 78 years ago, and how we celebrate this every year.

The students from Manurewa High School came over to our school and entertained us with an Indian dance that they performed in their lovely and colourful Indian costumes. The music was vibrant and the dances were joyful to watch.

Our school’s Indian students then danced to some lively Indian music.

On the whole it was a fun morning learning about India.

Get Gaught Reading

Today, in our pod, during Sustained Silent Reading, Mrs Raj caught learners engrossed in reading. She took photos of students reading, for the class blog.

The learners from Kaitiaki 1 and Kaitiaki 2 were doing awesome reading, helping each other read and were seen enjoying reading.

Well done, Tamariki ma.

Today was our first day of connecting with individual learners from our buddy school, Room 11 at Weymouth School.

First we looked at their blogs and learnt a bit more about them, then thought of what positive, thoughtful, helpful things we might say to them.

After that we created our first letter where we asked them questions to find out more about them. We can’t wait to hear back from them and write comments to them.

Animations in Room 2

Today we have been exploring how to make Animations using Google Slides.

We have only started using Chromebooks in Room 2 so it has been fun to learn ways we can be smart learners with digital devices.

We had so much fun making our animations – they turned into mini movies.

What is your favourite movie?

Thanks for visiting!

First day of Cybersmart

We are so excited. We had our first day of Cybersmart today learning ways to be smart with our digital devices.

Miss Toland shared her post with us about her and then we got to make our very own poster in Google Draw so she could learn more about us too.

We really enjoyed learning how to add text into our poster to write our name. Then Whaea Tully taught us how to make sure we had a captial letter for our name using the shift key.

So much new learning today, we are looking forward to learning more. Our next step is to add in picture of what we like.

What is your favourite thing to eat?
